Deceased after being off work for three weeks suffering from heart disease started work again at 2.45 p.m. on the 12th and worked alone taking up bottom coal. He was visited by the master shifter during the course of his shift and on a second visit was found dead by him about 2.45 a.m. on the 13th. The local inspectors examined the place and "found nothing likely to cause death by accident." An inquest was held at which medical evidence was given that death was due to heart disease and so the Jury found.
