Deceased was engaged getting down top dirt at the coal face, when a large fall of roof 14 feet 6 inches by 5 feet by 5 feet thick occurred and buried him. The fall came away from a slip running along the face coal, and broke off at a line of props 5 feet 6 inches from the face. It displaced one prop, and it would appear that the regulation propping distances had been exceeded at the place of accident, although the timbering was in order at the time of the fireman's visit three hours previous.
