He was lowering two tubs of dirt down an incline of about 1 in 14 to couple them to a train of three tubs of coal which were standing on the incline. He withdrew a locker from the first of the two tubs to put them in motion and while trying to replace the locker he slipped on the rail and fell between the dirt and the coal tubs and was fatally crushed.
