Deceased was injured about the hips by a fall of roof. The injury was not very serious, but it prevented him from working for some weeks. He started again on August 31st, but was compelled to give up after four days. The inactivity preyed upon his mind and he committed suicide on September 23rd. A post-mortem disclosed old standing meningitis, and the coroner’s jury returned a verdict that he committed suicide 'whilst insane’, the insanity being accelerated by the injury he had received in the pit.
