Deceased was drawing props from the waste behind the longwall face, and was using a Sylvester. At the time of the accident there was an unsupported space of 10 feet between the prop he was drawing and the anchor prop to which the Sylvester was attached. The roof fell right up to the anchor prop immediately the prop was drawn, and caught him. The Sylvester should either have been anchored further away or some intermediate props set to protect him.
