- Details of Event
- Whilst fixing a large stone in the foundation of a gate side pack he was caught by a fall of roof, 4 feet square by 6 inches thick. The fall knocked him backwards, his head coming in contact with a sharp stone causing a fracture of the skull. A deputy had examined the place 40 minutes before the accident and did not detect any danger. The fall was probably caused by Lavin taking out a broken prop half an hour before the accident happened.
