- While engaged at his work his thumb was slightly injured when a splinter of wood entered it or caused a slight scratch, was not defined. The medical evidence was, that blood-poisoning supervened upon a slight scratch on his left thumb and resulted in death on the 8th February, 1907. This is a case which, in all probability, before the Compensation Act, would not have come under notice as a mining fatality.
