- Details of Event
- Deceased was withdrawing a row of six props from a waste. The stallman was with him when only two props remained and the deputy about 15 minutes prior to the fall. Deceased’s attention was drawn to a slip running parallel with the pack wall. He put the ringer chain around the least prop and to loosen it before applying the ringer he struck it near the top several times with a hammer, when a large fall of roof coal occurred, killing him instantly. It would have been better had the stallman remained with him to give his advice and assistance.
