1 November 1917: Kelty Miner Crushed – On Thursday Charles Robert Laming (36) miner, Erskine Place, Main Street, Kelty, was severely crushed in his working place in the Aitken Pit. A large stone weighing about half a cwt fell on him from the roof, pinning him to the pavement. He was conveyed to the pithead where Dr Benjamin [?] examined him. Thereafter he was taken to his home.
