- Inspection made and inquest attended. There were catches at the pit bottom and as the cage was double-decked eight men got in the top deck and the deceased and others were waiting to get in the bottom deck. When the engineman lifted and lowered to put the cage on the catches the hooker-on missed the cage with the catches and it wen lower than expected meantime deceased tried to get in and was crushed. Cause too much hurry and crowding at pit bottom.
