10 September 1921: Accident at Cowdenbeath - Wm. Kirk, 53, who resided in Dunfermline, died in the Dunfermline, and West Fife Hospital on Saturday from injuries to the head sustained, through being caught beneath a fall from the roof of the splint section, Lochhead Pit, Raith Colliery, Cowdenbeath, the previous day. [Scotsman 12 September 1921] Fatal Accident At Lochhead Pit - William Kirk, a miner residing at Dunfermline and employed at Lochhead Pit of the Lochgelly Coal Company, died in Dunfermline and West Fife Hospital last Saturday morning as the result of an accident at Lochhead Pit.
