He was shovelling dirt from under some coal which had been undercut and which was supported by sprags 4 feet 2 inches long, and about 5 feet 6 inches apart, when a sudden weight ‘bump’ occurred, and a large piece of coal 4 feet 4 inches long, by 2 feet wide, by 2 feet 2 inches thick, fell upon him and killed him instantly. One sprag was displaced by the fall.
