He was engaged fixing a door frame in the pit when a stone fell from the roof upon his back fracturing his spine. The roof was exceptionally strong and good and had been previously examined by deceased and a deputy who pronounced it safe. A bump occurred and shook the Stone out. Deceased died on 1st January, 1914.
