Details of Event
Roof fall. An accident befell a Miner named Michael Ketterick, residing at 10 Spittal Street Stirling, in the course of his work at Polmaise Colliery on Saturday (11 December 1920) It appears that he was engaged at work in the Knott Coal Seam of No.3 Pit, Polmaise Colliery, when a large stone fell from the side of the working place and pinned him to the pavement. He was immediately released and conveyed to the Pit head, where he was attended to by Dr Porter who found him to be suffering from a fracture of the collar bone, a deep flesh wound on the left arm and cuts and bruises about the face and head. He was afterwards removed to Stirling Royal Infirmary where he is detained. He died on Sunday. (Stirling Observer).
