- Fall of roof. William Douglas Cockburn Kerr (38), Brusher, 85 Fourth Block, was killed at work in No 4 Pit, Polmaise Colliery, Fallin about 6.30 pm on Sunday (7 December 1941) when a stone fell from the roof. Deceased sustained injuries which proved fatal. When the stone fell, it pinned him to the ground and when extricated, he was found to be dead; death being due to a fractured skull. For the greater part of three seasons, Kerr was a capable and popular goalkeeper with King's Park FC and during 1930-31, he had the distinction of playing in every match. Before that he kept goal for Fallin Juveniles. Deceased was 38 years of age and married. (Stirling Observer).
