Details of Event
Deceased worked with his father in a longwall place. After an interval for food, the lad went into the place and began to work, when a fall of coal occurred striking him behind the head, and knocking his face against the floor. It was not considered the boy was seriously injured as there was no outward trace of injury to the skull. After a week or so he did not improve, and from what was occurring the medical man deduced he had a hidden fracture of the base of the skull. He died on April 22nd.
