- In drawing road roof fell 10 feet long 8 feet wide, 3 feet 7 inches thick. The fireman examining before work commenced found roof weighting near kept colliers back; afterwards the day fireman found roof quiet and set men to work at 6.30 am., a few minutes after the undermanager passing up this roadway found roof weighting, shouted to the men to stop at the face, day fireman and a dataller were with the colliers at the face, they foolishly disregarded the undermanager's order, rushed from the face under the weighting roof, they got through but deceased following their bad example was buried under the fall. Six props were brought down by the fall, bars might have prevented. (Good roof).
