- Details of Event
- The locus of this accident was a self-acting incline 35 yards long rising 16 inches per yard. The boy was employed at the foot of this incline. On the day of the accident a tram of timber had to be sent up the incline. They set about doing this in the usual way, viz., by hanging on two full tubs at the top. When the lad at the top of the incline pushed the two full tubs over the incline top, the rope drew out of the socket until the two tubs ran amain down the incline. They caught the boy at the bottom and killed him. The rapper lever was at the side on which the full tubs always came down. A refuge hole was provided in which deceased could stand and rap. After the accident the lever was moved to the empty side.
