He was returning to a working place (a heading 6 feet wide and 5½ feet high) to fire a shot which he had previously charge, when it went off. He had charged two holes, about 3.5 feet apart and at right angles to each other, and when the first shut went off it lit the fuse of the second one, which ought not to have been charged until after the first one was fired.
