Deceased stated that a small fall of roof had occurred and injured his head but none of his fellow workmen knew of any accident nor did deceased complain until some days after the alleged injury. The coroner's jury returned a verdict that 'he died from the effect, of an accident sustained in the pit, and meningitis and pneumonia caused by such injury.' Died 30th November.
