- Details of Event
- Deceased was cleaning up some dirt from the floor at the buttock in a longwall by 5ft. the thickness of dirt being about 1ft. 6ins. Deceased was struck on the head and died in a few minutes. The fall came form a gob break and a slip at right angles to the face and reeled a prop and a sprag set to the roof from the top of the coal which is holed over or bannocked. The face seemed to have been well timbered but the combination of the slip break and an arched parting in clod forming the roof caused an unusual pressure which the timbering could not withstand.
