- Details of Event
- In order to remove two projecting stones on opposite sides of a level, two very short holes were drilled and charged with 1.25 to 2.5ozs of Arkite respectively. Deceased and his mate proceeded to light both fuses with their candles at the same time. One fuse was lighted and the men retreated thinking the other fuse was hot lighted. When the shot exploded they returned and the other shot went off and fatally injured deceased. Either both fuses were lighted before they left the shots or flame from the first shot had fired the second.
