Deceased had undercut to a depth of 18 ins. a face of clay 23ft. in height, and was said to have complained about the difficulty he experienced in getting it to fall. Two and a half hours later, when he was working near the spot, about two tons of clay and soil fell from the face and partially buried him, causing injuries to which he succumbed on the same evening.
