- This accident was the result of culpable carelessness Deceased sent his assistant up the pit to fetch the electric battery for tiring some shots. He then went to a staple pit, about 6 feet deep, laid the cable along the level, charged two shot-holes in the pit with Roburite No.3, and attached the cable. Before he had time to leave the place his assistant returned and without calling to him, coupled the cable to the battery, and fired the shots. He, not being the person appointed to fire shots, had no business to have done so.
