Deceased and two others were widening a roadway to make a double parting. One sidewall, on which to place steel girders had been built and room had been made for the wall on the other side. The roof had been secured by a pair of timbers and strong lags reaching from it to the last girder in position. Deceased heard a slight movement of the ground and got up on a stage to examine the roof when a heavy fall took place crushed out the timbers and buried him.
