- Details of Event
- These men were in a kibble to descend the shaft which was being sunk from the Low Main to the Harvey Seam. There was a scaffold below the Low Main Seam through which the rope passed. The master sinker signalled for the kibble to be lowered but it did not move and on looking up he saw the rope was coiling on the scaffold but before he could do anything the kibble dropped away about nine feet and the men were thrown out and fell to the bottom of the shaft about 38 yards below. 3 killed.
