- Details of Event
- The night shift of workmen had put two bars under a piece of stone opposite the gate end, which did not appear to be safe. The day shift following, the men started knocking one of the props back a few inches, when the stone fell and fatally injured deceased, who died the same day. One or more catch props should have been set before interfering with the timber, but there was no real necessity to alter the position of the prop as left by the night shift.
