He was withdrawing props and had taken out several during the shift. At the time of the accident he was taking out the back row but one, and was pulling at one of the props when some roof coal fell between two slips and injured him so severely that he died the same day. He knew of one of the sips and should have exercised better judgement in withdrawing the props.
