A shot had been fired in some undermined coal 7 feet in thickness, hut had not brought it down. Deceased and his mate reset two out of three sprags, and while the former was levering off the coal at the loose end, it came away suddenly from smooth partings behind. The coal came over the sprags and knocked out a prop. Deceased was caught by the falling coal and killed.
