Details of Event
The scaffold, supported by two capstan ropes in the shaft which they were engaged widening, had also three plugs let in the side of shaft, tilted on one side and the two deceased persons fell to the pit bottom, a distance of 60 yards and were killed. At the inquiry it was recommended that they should in future attach the capstan ropes to the scaffold at four points instead of only two. 2 killed.
