- Details of Event
- A train laden with cliff had been sent up, and mother full train had been put in the cage by the hitcher and deceased, who was acting as assistant hitcher, when a piece of cliff, 3lbs. in weight, fell from the recently landed coal struck deceased on the head and killed him. The space between the penthouse and the cage on the west side through which the stone fell, was 16 inches, while that on the opposite side was 6 inches. The larger space was left for convenience in getting long props down. The space has since been reduced to 6 inches.
