- Details of Event
- As a full tram was being hauled by a horse up a gradient of 4 inches per yard, the pin of the gun got jerked out and the tram ran back and crushed deceased against an empty tram. The full tram had, a short time before been off the rails and in putting it on the pin very likely got shifted and the haulier did not notice it. The barhook at the end of the tram did not act for some time, and when it did it was too late. One leg was so badly crushed that it had to be amputated. Deceased died immediately after the operation after the administration of the anaesthetic.
