He was engaged in getting some coal on the side of a large fault when a large stone fell upon him, killing him instantly. The stone fell from between the fault slip and the last bar, which was 8 feet 9 inches from the fault. A watch prop was knocked down by the fall. The distance at which another bar should have been set in the usual course bad been exceeded by 3 feet.
