He was taking a pony down a travelling road at the side of a main rope haulage road when the rope was running. He got into a refuge hole to allow a train to pass, but it is thought his pony pushed him out, and he was run over and killed The Jury considered it was not fit work for a boy and that either the rope should be stopped or a man should be sent.
