- Details of Event
- On his way to the pit carrying some lamps he suddenly fell on a level and roomy road. There seems to be some doubt as to whether he got giddy, or slipped, or stumbled. He seems from the result of a post-mortem to have been suffering from pneumonia at the time and to have been in a very bad state of health. He was seen by a doctor the same day and complained of pains which might have been due to the pneumonia. The shock of falling possibly brought things to it crisis and accelerated death a little but the post mortem showed that he would probably have died very shortly in any case. It scarcely seems a case to be returned as a mining accident. At the same time I do not like to say that is not comprised.
