- Details of Event
- A journey of seven trams filled with rubbish was being drawn up an engine-plane rising 12 to 15 ins. per yard when the rope broke. The trams ran back and killed deceased. The rope which was 3,000 yards long was 3/4ins. in diameter made of patent improved crucible steel and had been at work for 15 months. It was thought that the front tram had got off the rails and so put extra strain on the rope. Deceased was found partly in a manhole.
