His mate was engaged in barring down a large stone from the top of the face of a jud nearly 14 feet high, and deceased was showing a light fastened to the end or a long pole. The stone came away and knocked a prop out, the end of which struck deceased on the head as he was endeavouring to get clear. The unfortunate man died in hospital a few hours later without regaining consciousness.
