- Details of Event
- Along with a collier he was getting coal in a place next to a fault. Two parallel slips could be seen in the roof and timber had been set with sleepers 3 feet long as lid, but the props unfortunately were set on the wrong side of the slips, and as soon as the coal was taken out at one end another slip was disclosed, and the stone, which measured 9 feet by 4 feet by 3 inches by 3 feet 4 inches thick, without warning and killed him. If bars had been set the accident probably would not have happened. The manager promised to use them in future.
