Deceased was injured by a fall of roof while, engaged taking down coal at the buttock of a machine holed longwall face, and died in hospital on 6th March. He had only struck a few blows with his pick when a large piece of roof fell. It broke over a lid on the waste side and from a slip at the face. A fore, set, which the deceased ought to have set before beginning on the coal, would probably have, prevented the fall.
