Whilst the deceased was travelling outbye along the endless rope haulage level, he got run over by a set of full tubs. There appeared to be an empty set of tubs passing the full ones at the point where the accident occurred. The refuge holes were about 10 yards apart, but it was thought that he attempted to get between the full tubs where the first four tubs were attached to the remainder of the set by a lashing chain, when he probably slipped and fell and got fatally crushed. The tubs were travelling at the rate of about 2 miles per hour.
