- Roof fall. William Johnstone, Pit Brusher, No.3 Pit, Polmaise Colliery, Fallin, was killed on Friday (2 October 1925) by a mass of material, weighing two tons, suddenly falling upon him from the roof of the place where he was working. Two hours elapsed before his body could be recovered. Johnstone, who was preparing to go home when the accident occurred, was aged 30 and leaves a widow and six of a family who reside at Whins of Milton, near Bannockburn. (Stirling Observer).
