August 1916: Kelty - Pit Accident – While at work in Blairenbathie pit on Thursday, Wm. Johnstone, miner, residing at Kelty Hill Road, had a leg fractured through a large piece of coal falling upon him. Johnstone was removed home in the ambulance, where Dr Moir attended his injuries.
