- 14 November 1921: Steelend Miner's Tragic Death - Miner Killed At Working Place - The body of David Johnston (31), a miner, who resided at 5 Valley Place Steelend, was found on Monday evening, pinned beneath a [illeg] in the five feet seam of No 2 Pit, [Lethans] Colliery of the Wilson & Clyde Coal Company. The discovery was made shortly before half past [illeg] o'clock, the body of the unfortunate man [illeg] severely bruised, being found at the [illeg] of his working place.
