Deceased and three other men were riding down a gradient of 1 in 22 on a trolley when they lost control of it and dashed into a train of empties which was being pushed up the road by a locomotive. They had no brakestick but deceased was using an iron bar which he inserted between the wheel and the frame as a brake. There was a thick fog on at the time and they were probably not aware of the approach of the train.
