- Details of Event
- Deceased and another stoneman were idding an old rolleyway which was extensively fallen and were engaged in setting timber, above which was a quantity of loose stone. A few feet above the lofting a large stone had partly broken away from the side so that its outbye end was resting on the loose stone. This stone was known to be unsafe and the men were as far as possible keeping under the protecting timber. Whilst they were setting a runner, however, the stone fell on to the lofting, smashing it, and thence on to deceased causing injuries from which he died on December 15.
