Deceased had bored a hole in the door of the seam and charged it with five or six pellets of gelatine dynamite with detonator and safety lines attached. He attempted to fire the charge but did not succeed. Some time after he and his mates are said to have been boring a new hole six or eight inches from the old one when the charge exploded and killed deceased. His mate said on oath at the inquest that they were not unramming the missed charge but were boring a fresh hole so they must have bored the new hole into the old.
