- A full journey was being outwards from a double parting when a small blocking rope, which was either hitched to one of the trams or had become entangled with it coiled round deceased who was standing on the parting and crushed him to death. The evidence at the inquest was very conflicting as to whether the small rope was hitched to the tram or had become attached to it by accident. The rider, whose duty it was to unhitch the small rope had left the parting at the time of the accident. The Coroner summed up for manslaughter against this man but the Jury gave him the benefit of the doubt.
