- Details of Event
- Neck dislocated on engine plane where he was employed attending to an air door. The journey had been standing at a junction for three-quarters of an hour or so below the door awaiting another journey coming out to the other. Deceased was last seen cleaning the road about 30 yards from his door. The engineman alleges that he got three distinct rings on the electric bell, which meant "pull the journey back towards the pit," and he acted on the sign until stopped by the journey rider signalling "stop." The rider denies having given a signal to pull back and so far there is no explanation of the signal having been given. The doors on this road are a source of considerable danger and several fatalities have occurred at them.
