He went about 14 feet up the sloping face of the quarry to dislodge with a bar a body of loose rocks which he had just previously tried to release by blasting. While he was standing on the edge of one of the loose rocks levering an adjoining one the mass suddenly fell away. He overbalanced, fell, and was instantly killed by a rock falling on his head.
