- Details of Event
- Deceased was sheltering in an apparently safe position in the stall road of his working place in the Brassey Mine during the firing of a ‘Samsonite’ flanking shot in the longwall face when a piece of ironstone, projected by the shot, ricocheted and struck him on the side of the body with great force, penetrating the right lung and lacerating the liver. He died in hospital two days afterwards.
